Ratna Bindra, Co-President – Ratna has more than 15 years of marketing and communications experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She is very excited to be a part of this important organization dedicated to promoting excellence in the Croton-Harmon schools. Ratna and her husband, Raja, moved to Croton last year along with their two children, a 4rd grader and 2st grader, both at CET.
Waikuen Yee, Co-President — Waikuen moved to Croton in 2004 after her husband saw the trails, the gorges, the Croton Dam and the proximity to the Hudson River. Waikuen graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Operations Research/Industrial Engineering. She has over 15 years experience in technology; including working in the finance industry, real estate industry and with internet start-ups. Waikuen has 3 children; one in CHHS, and two in PVC.
Gillian Jackson-Champlain, Vice-President – Gillian is the Director of Project Management at Time Inc. with over 20 years of experience in digital production. As part of the Croton community for over 10 years, she and her husband, Richard have a pair of 12-year-old twin girls in PVC. Gillian joined the CHEF board in 2008.
Rick Craig, Co-Treasurer – Rick has almost 20 years experience in the financial services industry, with an undergraduate degree from NYU and an MBA from Columbia Business School. He and his family have lived in Croton since 2002. He has a daughter in PVC and a son in CET.
Dorothy Sonnenburg, Co-Treasurer – Dorothy graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Economics – Operations Research. Currently the CFO of CooperKatz & Company, Inc. she has over 18 years’ experience in finance, HR and operations. Dorothy and her husband, Jeremy, have lived in Croton for nearly 11 years; she has 3 children – one in PVC, one in CET and one eager to attend CET next year!
Genevieve Holcomb, Secretary – Genevieve holds a B.A. in English from Barnard College and has worked as a writer and editor in educational publishing. She moved to Croton in 2002 and enjoys raising three children—one in CET, one in PVC, and one in CHHS—in this vibrant and creative community. After working on and attending CHEF events over the years, she looks forward to joining the board and learning more about its mission to support innovation in our schools
Gregory Gilbert — Executive Chef and now Partner, Gregory Gilbert, is bringing a new life into Memphis Maes. In his career, he has gained his mark here in Westchester as, “One of the top Chefs in Westchester” while overseeing the kitchen at Crabtree’s Kittle House for over 6 years in the early 2000’s. In recent years, Chef Greg has been part of The Setai Hotel, a capella managed property, as Executive Chef and a member of its Executive Committee. In addition he has opened all of the F & B outlets at the Strand Hotel, Chef at Capital Grill both in NYC and also opened Emily Shaw’s in Pound Ridge. After graduating The Culinary Institute of America, Chef Greg worked for legendary restaurateurs such as Michael “Buzzy” O’Keefe at the Water Club in Manhattan under the tutelage of Celebrity Chef Rick Moonen now at rm Seafood in Vegas and Chef Brad Steelman, now at River Café in Brooklyn. Chef Greg has participated in hundreds of events over the past 25 years. For the past 15 years he has been organizing the Make-A-Wish Donor Dinner with John Crabtree involving some of the county’s top restaurants. This year he has joined CHEF to bring his expertise to the team to help CHEF’s mission continue to grow.
Samantha Glatzer — After graduating from Ithaca College with a film and photography degree, Sam moved to LA to work in the film industry. But being a native of Brooklyn, she missed the cold east coast winters and pushy New Yorkers and returned to the city to work in production, making commercials for several years. It was there she realized the perfect alchemy of her experience and passions — production and advertising — to become a creative recruiter, where she met my current partner, Lori. In 2001, Sam and Lori opened as Sam & Lori Associates. Sam moved to Croton in June of 2011 with her husband and two young daughters. They now have three daughters, a yellow Labrador, a cat and chickens. She feels a deep connection and sense of community in Croton and want to use her skills to help raise awareness and funds to help the school district.
Robyn Levitt — Robyn has over 15 years of experience in Human Resources and holds a BA in English from the Universityof Pennsylvania. Robyn and her husband, Andy, moved to Croton 7 years ago and have two children who are now at PVC and CET. She is thrilled to serve on the CHEF Board and be part of an organization that promotes educational excellence throughout the district.
Nancy Libow –NL, born and raised in Brooklyn NY and Nagoya, Japan has been a Croton resident for ten years. She holds a masters degree in International Educational Development from Teachers College, Columbia University and an M.S. in Special Education from Brooklyn College where she also earned her B.A. Nancy has been an English as a New Language teacher in the Yonkers Public Schools for more than a decade. She serves on her school’s Professional Development Committee and is a member of NY State Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Jordan Ogihara, her son (CHHS’15) and Miles (PVC’14) both benefited from CHEF grants. Nancy brings her experience as a dedicated educator with expertise in evaluating grant applications to the CHEF board. Her hobbies are walking the Croton trails with her golden doodle Twinkie and husband, Sadataka.
Rachel Wimpee — Rachel Wimpee is a historian of philanthropy and a project director at the Rockefeller Archive Center in Sleepy Hollow. She holds a Ph.D. in French Studies from New York University and taught French language and culture for a decade. The mother of a kindergartner and a third grader, Rachel moved to Croton with her blogger husband in 2009.
Using math games and manipulatives funded by CHEF, 3rd graders at CET can have fun while gaining a deep understanding of math concepts.
